First post on the new server

Unfortunately, I couldn't just carry over the trusty vBulletin 4.1.2 from 2012.

I had to upgrade to a later version in order for it to work with this version of PHP.

Sucks. But I guess the time had come to abandon PHP 5.3.

For the non-nerds who don't understand any of this, the bottom line is that I have to still transfer over some of my custom modifications (some I've already moved over).

It's also possible things might be broken here.

Please text me at 775-372-8355 or message me some other way if you find something wrong.

Or better yet, just post in this thread.

Radio is not working yet. That is being worked on.

Frustrating thing #1 is that a library called "Imagemagick" absolutely will not work on this new server with vBulletin.

I've tried and tried and can't get it to work, whereas last time we moved (in 2014), it was easy.

Imagemagick is what processes the attachments. There's an alternative called GD, which DOES work, but the images don't end up as good of quality, PLUS there are fewer types supported. So that's tilting. I am going to have to look into that, but at least we can get by with GD for now, and most of you won't even notice.

I'm nowhere near done. Only the forum has been moved (nothing else), plus there's some backend custom modifications which didn't make it over, and I'm going to have to manually install.

And then there's the whole issue with moving radio over, as well as the programs which operate the call-to-listen line, and none of that has been touched yet. They are still running from the old server.

And then I'll have to move over my vegascasinotalk site, but that has to wait until I can get a licensing issue straightened out, involving the previous site owner.

On the plus side, this site should run faster, especially when you load large threads like the Trump one. Also, as I said, I now have 16x more RAM (which is huge) and 4x more storage.

So this was needed. Hopefully I don't need to upgrade again until 2024.

When I click on links to threads I've already viewed before, I click the "take me to the first unread post" button, but doesn't redirect me to the first unread post, but to some other post in that thread. And it's not just sending me to the first post of the entire thread, but sometimes to a random post. Not complaining - just pointing out this bug....err.... feature*.

So maybe pokerfraudalert.com is up for some of you, but I am posting this on pokerfraud.com because I see the MartyMonkey at pokerfraudalert.com

Where is everyone else posting? (I assume it's pokerfraud.com and pokerfraudalert.com is not up for you all either).

And a related question Druff (and I'm only asking because I'm curious about how to migrate something like this and have a "backup" that acts like the real thing while the migration is happening)...how will you get these new posts from the last day (again assuming everyone here is posting using pokerfraud.com) to appear on pokerfraudalert.com when it is finally up as the de facto domain again and the MartyMonkey has gone away?

    Just to be clear...

Right now pokerfraudalert.com is not accessible, other than that message with Jewdonk the Monkey.

If you are reading this message, you are on the NEW SERVER with NEW vBulletin software as well.

Why is it on pokerfraud.com at the moment instead of pokerfraudalert.com?

Because pokerfraudalert.com is the OLD server

    pokerfraud.com is the NEW server

When I'm mostly done moving things, I will point pokerfraudalert.com here as well, and pokerfraud.com will become redundant again.

There might be bugs with the new software/server, which is why it's important you report them in this thread, or text them to me at the phone number posted in the OP.

This is a lot of work, by the way. Spent many hours last night. That was getting the new PFA forum up and running, and transferring MOST (but not all yet) custom modifications to the new version.

Spent many hours tonight, rebuilding the radio server, the archiving system, and the call to listen line.

The radio MP3 files should be copied over later today.

Not even close to done. Haven't even touched vegascasinotalk yet.

I'm already noticing that the loading time for the big threads (TRUMP train, Flying Stupidity Wagering, etc) is much better. Not instantaneous, but pretty fast... maybe like 1-2 seconds rather than the 30+ seconds it would sometimes take.

Don't be shy about reporting bugs. It's probably not just your device.

The annoying this is that new versions of PHP and vBulletin break things, and you have to do a lot of the work you did in the past over again... if you can even remember what you did.

Thank you for that explanation and I have no idea why I thought you would do the server migration any differently. Sounds Good. So far so good.

    BUMP

    Main pokerfraudalert.com should work again.

If it doesn't, clear your browser cache and also go into the cmd prompt and type "ipconfig /flushdns" if you're on a Windows machine.

If you're still getting that certificate/security error as of 12pm PST on 1/10, please let me know. I think that's fixed.

On the down side, the slow loading huge threads are still a problem, so I will have to play with the database configuration to figure out if there's anything I can do.

When could you ever delete rep you gave?

Is that a vBulletin feature I don't know about?

If you deleted in a timely manner you could resubmit to correct spelling or color.

Mumbles is right. Go to settings immediately and you were presented a delete button. Not anymore.

I thought he was just sassing Sonatine but he’s also got a point
